The John E Mack Institute is dedicated to the evolution of human consciousness. Our mission is to facilitate a deeper understanding of the universe in which we live, while exploring the nature of reality and the ways in which human beliefs about it have influenced the present condition of all life on earth. Our initiatives challenge the underlying assumptions of physicalism and anthropocentrism with the intent to widen the apertures of sociocultural, scientific, and academic reasoning. Building upon Dr. Mack’s research, we intend to resume statistical analysis and examination of his materials related to human contact with advanced non-human intelligences. We are particularly interested in the ontology of these events, the impact they have had on experiencer worldviews, and their messages of warning about humankind’s future should we fail to assume responsible stewardship of Earth’s biosphere.
Our work is: personal, intellectual, paradigm challenging, pro-science, and dedicated to social change. Project team members benefit from the guidance of an interdisciplinary board of advisors and an ecosystem of like-minded cultural influencers. JEMI programs adhere to rigorous protocols appropriate to their disciplines and share in common objectives that align with our core mission.
Our culture is defined by:
- Honesty, transparency, kindness, compassion, curiosity, tenacity, and courage
- An openness to novel experiences that operate outside of the dominant western worldview
- Our ability to suspend disbelief — or belief — for the purposes of scientific inquiry
We reject:
- Debunkerism masked as legitimate scientific skepticism
- Circular reasoning
- Reflexive dismissals of exotic data that do not align with the fundamental tenets of the prevailing
western worldview
Regarding the “alien abduction” phenomenon, we believe that:
- It largely took place during the last half of the 20th century and concluded with the onset of the 21st
century - On the whole, abduction-experiencers have told the truth to the best of their ability
- Some experiencers are prepared to go “on the record” again if doing so will help move the cultural,
scientific and academic conversations forward - The ontological status of the beings encountered might be extra or ultra-terrestrial, extra-tempestrial,
or trans-organic in nature; i.e. who/what they are and where they come from is currently unknown (at
least, to the general public) - The phenomenon demands serious consideration, empirically rigorous methodology, and
interdisciplinary collaboration amongst scholars who are empowered to engage the subject matter
without fear of professional reprisal - Observational science and intersubjective corroboration will prove essential in establishing the enigma’s
veracity - Credible anecdotal evidence regarding Contact interactions should inform emerging hypotheses
about their ontology - Witnesses must be precise in their descriptions of UAP sightings and Contact encounters;
embellishment and confabulation only create problematic noise in a highly sensitive data-set that
merits protection as such
Regarding UAP, we believe that:
- They are physically “real” and are demonstrating technology beyond humankind’s current capabilities
- They are not defying the laws of physics, but rather revealing our incomplete understanding of the
universe’s fundamental natural properties that allow for their high performance - The “national security threat” narrative currently being pushed by the US military, intelligence
agencies, and congress - serves the security establishment’s purposes and is being used to both influence public opinion and
control the pace of disclosure (for motivations related to US military supremacy and future economic
advantage to private interests) - The public has a right to know the truth and will benefit from learning it, even if official disclosure
creates an initial period of civil anxiety and unrest - Beneficial UAP-derived technology should be made available to all of humanity for altruistic purposes
Projects in Development - Digitization and Disposition of JEM archives – nearly complete; materials have been bifurcated
between Rice and Harvard universities - Meta-data Research Project – statistical analysis of highly credible researcher materials regarding
“alien abduction” - Experiencer Disclosure Initiative – an effort to establish the credibility of an international community
of close-encounter witnesses through cultural dialogue, academic research, and the amplification of
experiencer voices - New JEMI Website – a preeminent one-stop-shop resource of scholarly and cultural reflections on the
Phenomenon - JEM’s unpublished manuscript – currently being updated by Jeffrey J. Kripal and Michael E.
Zimmerman in preparation for publication in 2025 - Media-related – re: John’s life rights, future podcast series, and miscellaneous other collaborations
- Essence of Being – trainings to help participants explore a lived experience of unity consciousness
- Archives of the Impossible Roundtables – an interdisciplinary dialogue to develop a working
hypothesis for UAP and the abduction-experiencer phenomenon - Direct Particle Interaction Physics Website – to provide animations, text, and mathematical
explanations of a new physics model that describes a fundamentally interconnected universe and the
worldview it inspires.
